Change It Ourselves Alliance

The Change It Ourselves Alliance is a coalition of Australian businesses and not-for-profit organisations working to #ChangeTheDate of Australia Day.

We provide information and resources that empower people to make their own choices about what they do on 26 January. We encourage workplaces to offer their staff alternatives to the 26 January public holiday. We support honest conversations about Australia’s history, and seek more respectful and inclusive ways to celebrate the things that bring Australians together.

To show your support you can register with us, or request your logo be added to our landing page as an official supporter.

Volunteer with us

The Change It Ourselves Alliance is entirely volunteer-run. Do you have time or skills to support our work? Please get in touch today.

Change It Ourselves Committee

The Change It Ourselves Alliance is coordinated by a Committee which includes representatives of business and not-for-profits which are changing the date, along with other supporters.

Committee members currently include:

  • Mark Planigale
  • Martin Gleeson and Mackenzie Taiaroa (Serversaurus Cloud Hosting)
  • Nich Rogers (Cleugh Consulting)

Special Thanks To...

Many people have contributed to developing the Alliance, and this website and associated resources.

Huge thanks to Dale de Silva, who created the concept for the Change It Ourselves site, designed the logo, created the initial content, and project-managed Change It Ourselves through its first five years. With Dale’s vision and hard work, this site and the Alliance would not exist.

Big thanks also to:

  • Marque Lawyers for generously providing pro bono legal support
  • Will Fifer, Karl Rombauts, Megan Nairn, Ben Sanders and Joel Francis for their valuable contributions to website and content development
  • Megan Davis for social media and storytelling advice
  • Chris Sutton for HR advice
  • Jonathan Chee, Betsy Ruscoe, Lauren Neander, Kacey Sinclair and Gareth Brodie for their helpful advice and input
